Laura Ribbons (b.1990) is an artist, curator, educator and environmentalist. She graduated from Wimbledon College of Art in 2012 with a BA honours degree in Fine Art (Painting), she also holds a Masters degree in Environmental Anthropology from the University of Kent, 2016. She has exhibited across the UK and internationally, including in Spain, where she lived from 2018-2019. She has a number of works in private collections. Laura’s work explores her fascination with plants and the ways in which we coexist with them. Her works navigate how we relate to other species and the need to recognise them as individuals. Through her bold, mural-like paintings, Laura celebrates the strength and resilience of plants, - they offer both an escapism from the realities of the climate crisis as well as representing a desire to find solace and resolution in nature. As a curator and arts educator, Laura continues to explore these themes. She recently worked with Watts Gallery to facilitate and co-curate an outreach programme all about sustainability. Laura is passionate about watercolours and loves to share this passion through her teaching, both online and in person!
