Description

What you will get from taking this workshop:

  • An understanding of composition skills and tonal values
  • Experience of optically mixing and harmonising colours
  • The opportunity to create up to three landscape paintings
  • Elephant Academy Takeaway Technique: Through experimentation, learn how to mix colours in layers and enhance them optically using watercolours

Explore the incredible creative potential of watercolour painting and learn how to play with shape, colour and light through the application of layers of pigment. Tutor Lennaert Koorman will help to guide students in bringing these three elements together to create a playful and visually engaging watercolour painting.

This course will begin with a tutorial in free drawing, in which students will simplify shapes and creative intuitive compositions. From there they will learn to look for contrast and different tonal values, before searching for the desired colour harmony within the piece. Discover the flexibility and power of watercolour, which is perfect for creating beautiful sketches and evocative paintings with just a paintbrush, pigment and water.
